In order to be an effective leader, one must be willing to assert themselves as a leader among their peers. However, this does not mean that the person must be vocal and aggressive. Leadership comes in many sizes and varieties. Some lead by example, others with their voice, and some with memos and notifications. A leader must understand what type of leader they are in order to best showcase their skills. Most importantly, taking the initiative means that when something needs to get done, a leader does it. Comfort is not an item a leader is concerned about. I strive to make something happen. If no one takes the lead, things would never get done. I take the initiative to lead for the simple reason that a feeling of regret will always be worse than the feeling of failure.
